Though wanting to 'produce cheaper than Tesla' and claims of under $200/Kwh not the same thing.
Tesla claiming 35% battery cost reduction at ‘Gigafactory 1’ with reports of under $125/Kwh
Meanwhile, 5 weeks on from German article, Volkswagen teamed up with Korean battery giants for European EV's, with VW CEO openly discussing pricing:

"VW's CEO had no problem telling investors, analysts and the press assembled at its headquarters campus today that it has entered into contracts under 100 Euros (US$124) per kWh. How much under? He didn't say."

Whilst report below suggests VW European cell contracts with LG Chem & Samsung could be closer to $100/Kwh.


Volkswagen also spending billions on securing NMC cells for Chinese EV market JV's.

So where does that leave Listrom and it's 3 Billion Euro funding hole?
Who will invest in their battery cells?
Cells so far unproven in high volume commercial arrangements for quality or price.

Only US market left for VW to announce supplier.
Will VW break pattern of selecting battery giants with proven record of price & quality?

Will ongoing Huron site selection¹, ongoing seperator development², process automation development³, electrolyte selection & qualification, lithium & graphite supply deals⁴ or equipment set up & re-engineering for cylindrical⁵ deter VW from brave plunge into bone battery deal?
