Mate, I love ya, I really do, but all this chat about Aussies being turd investors and yanks having all the prowess is a load of crock in my humble opinion. In case you didn't realize, you don't have to be living in Aussie to buy AJX.
Markets are global, I can buy just about any stock from any country with a click of a button. You think the yanks don't already know about Alexium? Of course they do, especially those with big bucks with little birdies feeding them info all over the globe.
It's those with big wads of cash and contacts that are the people (or institutions) that drive the share price, not average mum and pop investors, no matter what country you're in. We are just along for the ride.
If the yanks thought this was worth more at this very point in time, it'd be trading higher - simple as that. You'd see a bidding war, with big piles of US dollars coming from left, right and center.
It's happening all over the ASX. Just look at the likes of 1PG - no where near making a profit, yet the yanks are all over it, buying it up to what seems to me like crazy valuations.
I think AJX is at a "sensible" valuation right now. A $300m MC isn't peanuts for a company yet to even a profit. Those that follow it extremely closely like the long termers here on the thread know what's in store revenue wise in the near term, but we are more informed than most. We just need to have more realistic expectations and a little more patience.
After all, as I've already mentioned - we aren't in a "sexy" sector. We are boring, mundane even, but that's exactly how I like it. Tech, resources, biotech - they all go through booms and busts. Industrials and the "boring" sectors tend to do well, regardless of market sentiment. That's why AJX is such a good long term bet.
I for one am actually glad we are plodding along rather than parabolically rising. Show me one company that's had a parabolic rise that hasn't come back down with a vengeance. I dare you. Even the FMG you quote - look where that is now.
No, give me slow and steady any day. I'm happy with how things are going, and am a big bemused by the reaction here, if I'm honest.
Give it time. The market likes to see sustained quarter on quarter growth. This is the first one we've really had that's shown that growth. We need a second (and a 3rd, 4th etc), and I expect that if we show that level of growth in the next one, I dare say we will start seeing traction.
P.S. And if you think yanks are the sensible ones, look at how they were valuing the countless worthless tech companies prior to the tech crash in 2001. Yeah, they gamble with far more intensity than the Aussies.
P.P.S. You also quote my boy Warren Buffet. If we are honest, WB wouldn't touch Alexium at the moment - he buys the big banks, insurance companies and coca cola - the behemoths you speak of with such disdain. Quality companies in distress are his cup of tea, not up and coming mid caps. Just keeping you honest
