Apologies @seamisty I know you already posted this last week.

Early childhood education professionals were shuddering at some of the comments in this article.

Chris Scott said "the rate of acquisitions has already slowed and attention will instead focus on quality of care".

When speaking about filling the vacant spot and becoming the biggest for profit (childcare) player in the country, Chris Scott said "we've filled that, now we can concentrate on qualitative issues"

Positive about slowing down acquisitions but quality of care should have always been paramount in the delivery of care, not something that came a poor second to achieving 'top spot'.

This further confirms that the board of G8 is sadly lacking depth in their understanding of quality early childhood education and care. A board appointment of an early childhood professional would confirm their commitment to improving quality and instal further confidence from shareholders.

The quality ratings for the majority of G8 centres is 'meeting' there is nothing wrong with that rating. Many people feel that the validation process requires further review. It's a two day visit, by a validator every two and half to three years, inadequate to assess the true quality of centres. Parents don't really worry about ratings too much, they are more concerned that educators are caring and nurturing towards their children. Staff development, working in partnership with parents and low staff turnover and crucial to improving occupancy. G8 currently have 200 staff vacancies in there centres, 25% of those vacancies are for university trained early childhood educators. Filling those vacancies with quality professionals is crucial in improving the standard of care.

IMO I feel that G8 are now concerned about the occupancy levels of their centres. If centre acquisitions are low and we are provided with accurate information about fee increases we should be able to ascertain true organic growth through improved occupancy.

With the removal of Affinity (for the time being) G8 are in 'top spot'. I've stated before that I consider Evolve, because of dual listing, the board members and the largest shareholders a contender for centre buy ups in Australia, it will probably be a less competitive process now that G8 have slowed down their accumulation and am certain that Kern and his associates will be considering their way forward.
