I have a more accurate gst estimate.

Current gst revenue is around $43 billion per annum, based on a 10% gst.

If we increase the gst by an absolue 1% to 11%, that raises $4.3 billion per annum.

If we do that (and legislate to keep the pollies hands off it), we can have a $4.3 billion buffer each year for disasters, and perphaps for assisting green projects.

This seems a "no brainer" compared to inventing various levies and trying to work out who pays and who doesn't.
