unfortunately ripping money out of coal while they can to pay for other state gov needs is probably on balance going to get the majority of people of qld support. SMR may have to push for cost cutting and try and pass through some of the new royalty to end customer to offset this royalty change. However, it will probably have biggest impact on the marginal met coal players and thermal coal mines (due to competitive exposure) and limit further investment which may ironically support global metallurgical coal prices.
