    might have been easier to cut out the middleman and go straight to the owner to discuss the next lease arrangement. it isn't against the law.
    quite simple for the owner to sign you up using an alternate agent for the next rental period on the terms both owner and consumer agreed to.
    or if you have been a tenant for 8 years build on that success and cut the agents out altogether thereby reducing costs for the owner and probably creating a small rental decrease for the tenant.
    draw up your own terms and pay direct.
    real estate agents are becoming aggressive as market activity slows to unprofitable levels.
