I agree SP has said things that were not helpful - too optimistic initially - and now maybe too cautious.
As I say - I think he is a virgin MD - he has always been a middle executive in a very large company - where different political skills are aquired to those required of the MD of a mid cap oiler.
If he had a good board and a good Chairman, he would be guided and supported until he found his feet.
Unfortunately, the powers that be in Perth, see the role of Chairman as a retirement benefit for Woodside executives. Peter Conlin as a Woodside finance executive may have been a good servant of Woodside - but I can see little international benefit for Hardman from his being Chairman. As a director, he may have value. I also like John Conlon.
Again, hardman does not oeprate oil fields in Australia - why is so Perth dominated - one of the most isolated cities (albeit very beautiful) in the world. Hardman should be closer to its business.
