That's why I always keep a good few months living expenses up my sleeve and am never fully invested - so that I never have to sell a good stock to cover debts and I'm never under pressure to sell.
The only time I sell is when I WANT to, not because I have to.
This is a VERY IMPORTANT lesson to learn for every investor.
