Yes I agree it is disturbing.
The US is also sending one of their old US carriers that is scheduled to be decommissioned next year to the region.
The cost to remove the 6 reactors on board is significant. Many conspiracy theorists argue that the ship will be sunk as a "false flag attack" which will allow the US and EU to go to war.
It would also make it hard/impossible for Russia and China to support Iran, if it is seen as a pre-emptive attack on their part.
I do not necessarily believe the conspiracies, but it is something i like to be aware of.
The one case against war is that neither the US or EU can afford it and I do believe that Americans in particular are sick of the fighting after more than 10 years in Afghanistan and Iraq (two wars that they clearly have not and will not win).
