"The next big step in the race for potash: for India and China to start taking out advanced greenfield projects, so owning the mines rather than being a price-taker from the existing big players in the mining game."
"The other spot nominated by Foster is the Republic of Congo. The brokerage also sent out a detailed report on Australian-listed Elemental Minerals which has the Sintoukola project in the more northerly of the two countries calling themselves Congo. Foster sees Elemental having the potential to attract corporate interest from either existing producers or major buyers from China, India or South America.
In the long run, the Chinese and Indians may see it cheaper to buy a mine than just be passive customers. Foster sees Elemental reaching a resource figure of close to 2 billion tonnes by next year as it continues drilling - which would rank Sintoukola in the top quartile of undeveloped potash projects in grade and tonnage terms."
