Every few months for several yrs the topic of how india is just about to become the 'new China' appears. Can/will it ever eventuate? Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the best pollie Inidia have had since 1992. If anyone can turn India around he perhaps can.

But India and China are chalk and cheese. Both have 1400 million people. One has a stable and now declining pop, the otther gains 24million additaional souls each year. i.e. another Oz per annum. Each day hundreds if now thousands of Indians starve to death. Tens of thousands live on refuse heaps the size of hills.

So talk of 'smart cities and mega industrial complexes' is cheap. If a country can't feed its people i wonder how they will fulfill these promises? Not in my lifetime.
