India's Mines Ministry has proposed proving automatic leases to
foreign companies investing in gold and diamond exploration projects
in the country. Foreign capital is being sought due to the shortage of
local miners willing to take the risk and qualify for mining permits.
A policy is being tabled August 10 in Parliament rewarding those
willing to invest in exploration of gold and diamonds to automatically
qualify for a mining lease.
