I do believe they created the numbering system as we know today. The Europeans used Roman numerals which were basically letters that was ridiculously inefficient for calculations until they learned the Indian numbering system from the Arabs, algebra is an Arabic word.
Their Taj Mahal looks nice too, although it's very annoying to be constantly harassed by scammers every 5 seconds.
