Right now, I am staring down the barrel of what happens when neo-cons strip away services and commonwealth support. The NT is over run by social issues, mental health issues and economic issues. Cheap housing is great, except there is now so many other issues that means buying here is a death sentance if you ever need the Darwin Hospital. They have had to take over part of the Private hospital JUST to have enough emergency beds tolook after the tsunami of injuries and illnesses that we are seeing, most of which are preventable/avoidable.
(Often through just washing your hands... remote communities have regressed to pre-hygiene levels not seen since before the pyramids.)
