Indigenous peoples globally have problems adapting to colonialisation
and in that respect our indigenous peoples are no different.

To expect Aborigine people to jump from Neolithic existence
to post Industrial 21st C existence in 300 years is an unreal
    expectation IMO.

Just look at the South & north American indigenous peoples.
They are struggling to make that ages leap (stone to bronze
to iron to feudal to industrial to post industrial)

IMO their quest to preserve their traditional stone age
hunter/gatherer culture is their advancement handbrake
with very few biting the bullet and adopting modern
    culture and prosperity.

    IMO its a package deal:
Conform to modern values and benefit from those values
or conserve the traditional Hunter -Gatherer values and
cop the consequences (a struggle to survive) where the
aborigine male is the apex predator.
