Not so long ago, I used STW as a tracking ETF for the XJO.
I switched over to IOZ because it is the largest ETF tracking the XJO. My reason was that since it is the largest, the volumes going through IOZ might be a bit more reliable as a guide to volumes on the XJO. There's not much in it. IOZ market cap$5.4 billion. STW $5 Billion.
As you probably know, it is difficult to get daily volumes on the XJO. They are usually delayed by one day. Why that is? Don't know. It is especially galling to a volume junkie.
My charting package (prorealtime) doesn't provide any volume data for xjo. So IOZ seems to me to be the an alternative. Not necessarily great, but OK.
