That certainly might be the trigger.
You can imagine the knock on effect.
Would you now leave all your cash in a Greek bank, a Spanish bank, an Italian bank?
Or would you pull at least a significant amount out and deposit it elsewhere (including perhaps gold)?

Outright criminal act in my mind.
The banks take risk, loose money and then take it from depositors whether they like it or not.
