I hope that the planned regional meetings come up with a plan to organise the flow of people searching for a destination to call home.
Why not compare the situation to the WW11 policy using US ships to transport many displaced people via Italian ports to Australia and other countries? There was a plan then and Italy must have cooperated by processing or allowing others to process the passengers? How did they manage the processing and who authorised the whole thing?
It seems that the displaced people of today are not so poor have the means to escape the continent from which they flee, and then try to find the best place to call their new home... they dont have a chance to look back on that initial decision to leave..
A United Nations type approach/temporary visa might assist to locate the flows? These days we have connectivitey via phone and the issue of a United Nations number could assist in many ways,imo. Just reuniting families, banking, tracing flows and giving assistance..etc. What about issueing that UN visa which gives a go back home option without repurcusions?
The world is not moving with the tools now available and the goodwill isnt getting through,imo.
and then you think of GAZA and wonder... what can be done there? UN Visa to gain freedom?
