My daughter, some years ago, went to Indonesia with few friend, stayed away from the usual places visited by boozie Aussies, and really enjoyed meeting the real Indonesians. Her friends finally persuaded her to go to Bali and she was appalled at the behaviour of the Aussies towards the very friendly Balinese.
Whilst I am no friend of the Indonesians, due to their poor track record in dealing with nearby countries and lack of respect for human rights by their military, it is no surprise that some of them do not have any respect for visiting Aussies. And I can never understand why anyone wants to visit another country, with a very different culture, just to get hopelessly drunk. The only place I can think of that would suit that purpose would be the Oktoberfest in Germany.
