Hoodlum, I believe that would be the same in most country.
The Locals go about their everyday things and are polite and helpful to tourists.
You might meet a few loud mouth Americans , Aussies and etc overseas, but back in their own countries the local will be the same as you experience.
But alas you will get fanatics spoiling it for others.
Muslims Fanatic are in everyones face now, and not for the best reasons. Muslims live in Muslims countries and non Muslims live in non Muslim countries will keep the peace.
Every country wants tourist dollars, but don't want them to over stay their welcome.
When the tsunami Hit Indonesia, they welcome our help, but didn't want our church helpers stay long in case they try to convert Indonesians to christian beliefs.
