Hi Slentik,
Singapore has actually quietly revised their use of the death penalty (sadly) since Dec 2nd, 2005 when the young Australian Van Tuong Ngumen was executed.
Could be wrong but seems since they offered a clemency to all people on death row, all except 2 prisoners availed themselves.
195 countries in the world
140 countries - do not have the death penalty.
Changes have been evolving in countries over the last half century against the death penalty as it does not deter criminals and particularly regarding drug couriering/useage......
Hating the circus of bravado from Indonesia.
President Jokowi l expected far more from. A person of no political or military persuasion, who had represented Surakarta region as Mayor and then Governor and was known for economically & socially advancing his region passionately.
This is unfortunately pure politics (Indonesia's) and nothing to do with individual countries rights.
Jakarta Post has been a great place to post and probably more far reaching if you care but l urge a caution in posting on a them and us vein! as it doesn't help.
cheers
Ps. l am absolutely against the death penalty
