I call it a rumour because that's all it appears to be at the moment. From what I have read / dug up this morning, none of the big operators are willing to admit there is anything going on and it's a government push to consolidate the smaller operators from 11 or so down to a couple.
Some company execs claim to have not even had meetings to discuss this.
President Widodo wants a few telcos at the most and has indicated possibly controlling one through government funds due to a slow down in growth after this last year.
Besides, it's hard for TV2U to put out a statement if they (and the telcos) don't know what's going on. So they may as well carry on.
