Most of the world's platinum comes from South Africa. Thus, if PLA isn't the only platinum miner facing headwinds, you could expect the platinum price to rise, and PLA's price would tend to rise too.
Possible systemic headwinds:
1. Increased safety regulations
2. Onerous and confusing BEE provisions
3. High costs of credit
4. Rapidly rising wages
5. Strong Rand
