    My take on this is industry funds in good years beats me hands down and in bad years I do a lot better with our SMSF.
    Unlike industry funds I do not sell down when the market falters creating a loss , I hold , and sometimes buy more stock .
    I am only interested in the dividend and the franked credit .
    If the market goes down my SMSF assets go down which means I can take a lesser pension ,and then when the market picks up I have more funds in the SMSF to buy more shares .

    I am in both an industry sperfund super fund with insurance and am a member/trustee of a SMSF...
