Unfortunately we don’t yet know yet if m6A is important for cancer patients. Yes we have a huge amount of scientific data that suggests m6A is important, but until we have cancer patients respond to m6A drugs we won’t know for sure.
I should add that based on what I know I would be very, very surprised if m6A is not important in cancer and a whole range of other diseases. I would also add that I think increasing m6A levels is going to be more important than decreasing it for cancer - i.e. inhibit FTO, not METTL3.
