If your new drug saves money in other health areas then the PBS will pay. New drugs that prevent serious long term health problems (i.e. those that cost a fortune to treat) can save the health system money overall even if they cost a lot themselves. It is the overall spend that matters, not the prices of individual components.
I do wonder if you have shared your new found interest in health economics on your favourite company’s HC threads. Remind me how much do cell therapies cost per patient?
