I think it's an audience thing, you need to be able to identify that the majority of people who what Win / Chanel Nine are not Oncologists, or have much prior knowledge of it or biotechnology.
The interview was specifically for AML, so it needs to stay on discussion otherwise it wouldn't be aired, or would be cut out. He could had mentioned other things but post-production probably edited out to suit their audience.
