CBRAM is based on a chalcogenide glass, but its set/reset mechanism differs from OxRAM (Weebit Nano). Rather than building a conductive path through oxygen vacancies, the CBRAM moves silver ions from the cell’s anode into the glass to create a conductive path.
The technology was created by Adesto, they are the people who built the technology and it has changed hands several times.
If anything this shows Global Foundries commitment to Embedded NVM and how they want to dominate the market.
Coby knows this technology well as he has half of the Adesto team working for him and my understanding is the WBT product outperforms CBRAM in most metrics.
