Interesting development, thanks for posting.

This sounds to me like yet another magnetic storage medium that will be subject to interference and corruption by strong electro-magnetic fields. Of course, this shortcoming can always be overcome with sufficient shielding. However, that adds cost, weight and bulk, which then limits the use cases and requires compelling performance specs to justify it.

Another problem with magnetic media has always been the complexity involved in reading and writing. Although the individual storage elements may be very small and simple, by the time you build in the read/write hardware you end up with something quite complex, and a lot bigger.

Perhaps this technology overcomes that particular problem. However, it is still firmly at the research stage, so no threat to ReRAM in the medium term at least.
