Expenditures totalling £483 billion are committed to infrastructure for the five-year period ending in 2021, with 60% of funding expected to come from the private sector. The government is committed to invest £100 billion, a 60% increase from the previous period. Large infrastructure projects in the planning or construction phases include Crossrail and Crossrail 2, Lower Thames Crossing, Hinkley Point C, Birmingham’s Big City Plan, the Strategic Road Network, and High Speed 2.
