I have only seen speculation of a Western Digital split.
Not confirmation.
It would not surprise me though - Intel just sold of their memory business to SK Hynix for some $Stupid Billions.

But yes, should they split, then to be offered scrip and be "gobbled up" by the spin off is a plausible outcome.
Ideally we would get to chip results in February first.
