-- It appears Fortescue Metals Group CEO Andrew Forrest unsuccessfully tried to convince Peter Meurs, the founder of mining engineering group WorleyParsons, to succeed him in the role. Forrest would have stayed on as an executive director, with hopes that Meurs's vast experience would help Fortescue overcome current hurdles at its Pilbara region iron ore mines.
