The Modern Manufacturing Initiative – Manufacturing Integration Stream – Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Processing Priority Round 1Grant opportunity (that’s a mouthful) only provides grant funding based on eligible expenditure. The minimum project expenditure for this grant opportunity is $2 million. Grant funding will be up to 50 per cent of the eligible expenditure.The minimum grant amount is $1 million. The maximum grant is $20 million. With the government expecting the average grant size to be around $4 million.

Applications opened on the 4th March 2021 and close 1st April 5pm AEST. Projects must be completed by 31 March 2024.

You can use funding from State, Territory or local government grants to fund up to 25 percent of your contribution to eligible project expenditure. If the application is successful, you must commence your project within three months of executing your grant agreement. Which may be a factor if QLD state government assistance comes to fruition.

The government takes up to 7 weeks to assess the application, approval of eligible applications a further 2 weeks and the final negotiations and awarding of the grant 3-4 weeks. Roughly 3 months which I consider quick compared to the NAÏF process which cannot go any further without offtake and finance.

As pointed out by other holders, AUZ would be an ideal candidate for this type of government support.
