It's been suggested that Australia build and operate nuclear waste disposal and storage facilities. Our geology is stable, there are massive tracts of uninhabited spaces. Even Bob Hawke supported the idea.
It's a huge money earner, it keeps the worlds nuclear waste safe and secure.
So why not? Because we are a nation of NIMBYs. As a result nothing gets done.
