I just wanted to give everyone a detail of how I see the potential for Invions inhaled zafirlukast. Merck sales of Singulair (an oral form of the same class of medicine) globally was 5.5bn for the year 2011-2012. While its patent has expired, the sales of oral montelukast globally in the last year must be close, but I don't have any clear data on that. While I am excited to see the results of nadolol and cpn10, I think an inhaled leukotriene antagonist could be huge, as inhaled delivery of the drug is preferable over oral therapy due to the risk of side effects such as abdomial pain and diarrhoea or changes to mental state (aggression, depression, anxiety). Personally I can see this particular treatment being featured in asthma guidelines after a trial of short acting beta agonists, as an alternative to inhaled steroids or particularly useful in patients with exercise induced asthma who are not adequately controlled with ICS/LABA.I think the market is certainly undervaluing this particular asset and I look forward to Invions development of this product.
