Thanks G . That's why I thought I'd put it out there . I figured lifestyle but maybe it should have been in general ?

Anyway , because of some experiences I've had ( one as an executor ) I learnt some things that I'd never even thought about before .

Also , as you accumulate a few things in life then you start to think about who you'd leave it to . Once again , things occured to me that I had never considered .
In my view I'd rather leave it people I know ( who really need it ) rather than some distant nephew that I don't know or some other relative that doesn't need the cash . Some people I speak to are real traditionalists are believe that it should stay strictly within the family .
Other people I know are spending it all ( they are not wealthy ) and the kids will get left what's left which won't be much .
Then , there's friends who have no kids and live quite well . She is a bit of a traditionist while he is not so there's been some interesting conversations there !

Another thing that occurred to me is that as things change in your life , probably so should your will . People come and go and circumstances change .

As for the problems that a will can cause , there are many horror stories out there . I was advised by a family friend ( solicitor ) who told me some private local stuff . If I hadn't known some of the people personally , I wouldn't have believed it . Especially where the total of the estate was burned in the courts over sibling rivalry . It made me realise how unprepared you are when you participate in something like this .
