Be aware that it is wise to consider that aged care is becoming expensive, especially if you have no family member who is likely to be in a position to take you on, in your dotage. So spend within your means with consideration for your last years of life and beware that you might just find yourself still alive at a hundred. If you have a family member or friend who takes care of your needs in later life, then it would be nice if you could leave them something in return over and above the rest of the family.

If you have no one you wish to leave your estate to then you could consider a bequest to a charity or cause that you admire, but be sure that the money will be well spent.

For those concerned about their offspring wasting the estate money on legal cases go find yourself a lawyer who specialises in wills and related court cases. The Law Society should be able to point you in the right direction.
