This 'Innovation' thread kicked off from a link to an article I posted regarding a claimed 30% boost in efficiency of Wind Power Turbines by building a simple doughnut looking lump about their bases.

I suggested a 'think tank' exercise to see what the brains on the GDY forum might come up with that could assist geothermal.
There was a large level of interest and quite a number of thoughts put forward. The most popular target being ways to improve and reduce cost of condensate cooling from the steam turbines allied with ways to utilise this waste heat as opposed to just dissipating it to atmosphere.

I started to list and categorise the responses. The job was obviously a big one and I got the stitch. I thought a scroll through the thread might be the best go. You need to select "show last 100 posts" at end of thread as the default '50' posts wont pick them all up.

Confessional. -: Having kicked this thing off I didn't post a brainwave! I know, and I appologise.
Anyway to make a late contribution I will put up this thought.
    * That is to utilise generated power until such time as the grid is connected, and maybe thereafter, it would be good if batteries for electric powered vehicles could be charged here providing a 'greenpower' source for these eco vehicles.
I have not alas solved the tyranny of distance problem for transporting these batteries to and from the site. Maybe the idea is better suited for the next site GDY is to develop in Queensland.- Anyway there it is.*
So that we don't give up too quickly though here is another little item I spotted this morning from New York.
It is an improvement in reducing, almost eliminating, reflectivity of light from solar panels so that the full spectrum reaches the photovoltaics. They claim so effective it could eliminate the need to align panels to face the sun rather directly for good performance etc.
    Uses nano-technology! Keep thinking-tankers.
