In my younger days I worked in a factory making products out of metal tubing. There a mixed bag of workers mainly European: Yugoslav, Greek, British, Lebanese, an Irish foreman, an Aussie boss and myself. A good old mix that in the main got on reasonably well. Had a lot of trouble understanding the Irish accent but one day I asked how he became the foreman. After a bit of a puzzled look he asked whether I really wanted to know - yes, I said, then he told me he went to a printing firm and asked them to print and type a resume - with some untrue made up employment history - who would check back in those days?? He was a go getter, knew what to do, thus no one would question his ability and overall very funny.
Hard to imagine one could do such resumes these days - for me a piece of 'qualification' paper doesn't mean that much - what matters more is whether one can use their nouse - the Irish foreman was a smart dude but in today's world he'd never get that job. With the place being only a five minute walk from home and starting early - it allowed having long free afternoons to enjoy (was home and showered by 4pm) - at that point lots of money or career was not so much a consideration.
As for destructive nature of mankind - very smart on devising more ways to kill whether that be by guns, bombs, injections, the rope or guillotine or -

The Five Pains:
This form of Chinese capital punishment is a relatively easy concept to grasp. It starts with the victims nose being cut off, then one hand and one foot, and finally, the victim is castrated and cut in half across the waist. Inventor of this punishment Li Si, a Chinese Prime Minister, was eventually tortured and then executed this way. The inventor got to try his invention - wonder whether he thought of improvements whilst trying??
There is a one of a kind terror museum in Hungary showing punishments from two terror regimes:

Sure leaves a lot of room for loving one's neighbor as oneself. Better behave now or?? Perhaps one may be able to choose from a 'thousand ways to die'.
Maybe a new meaning allotted to 'love someone to death'.
The following seems such a friendly handshake:
But not all is as it seems.
