I agree with @cambam that it's unlikely that you can stop the sale.

But if the company acted in a way that negligently or wilfully reduced the return to the shareholders, or issued official statements that shareholders relied on that subsequently turned out to be false, then the shareholders potentially have grounds for a class action to recover any loss attributable to those actions or statements.
