Also rising wages and demands for better conditions are impacting costs whereas there are a VERY large number of better educated American's prepared to get involved in retraining & upskilling and work at what we would consider modest wages.
The States are also slashing red tape and providing lots of incentives, plus training, to attract manufacturers. Will be over there for 4 weeks next month and chasing up some contacts but would be interesting to hear from some of our US punters on how broad this is ATM, rather than just relying on press reports. Most people I spoke to last September were not really aware of it, although the general mood was way better than just 4 months prior.
US consumers will have a lot of stuff to update & replace as confidence grows.
