Manila - Please excuse my ignorance on this topic but why does the physical location of the stock exchange have any real difference on how and where project funding is achieved from?

For an Australian company, that has a mine located in Australia, I really don't understand why you would need to be listed on a different stock exchange to obtain funding.

Please enlighten me.
