Don't people wonder WHY the own 43.74% of the Co?
I Wonder about this, myself!! LOL !! As I'm still in the "sharing" mood, here is a copy of a reply to a fellow member of a private Looksmart Google GROUP, that will make sense to some ..... But "only", some ......
Hi Mike .....
I really like this post of yours!! You said ......
< I popped over to the OzStocks board and read a couple of the young ones posting in response to your posts. They are a symptom of how the market views LOOK presently >
And this is so plain to see. There are few buyers of the stock ATM, and in both markets.
Looksmart has had a poor 'track record' that many have decided .... "once bitten, twice shy".
Besides, not many have even an 'inkling' of the possibilities that could unfold over the next few weeks. (Although, in making the possibilities "element" pretty clear in those recent posts on OZE, I'm sure that "the pennies may have dropped", with smuggler). It simply 'boils down to', one dollar in revenues, for every one visitor to our sites, per quarter. And costs will shrink or, a "reverse scale" ratio effect is inevitable, with the more visitors we have.
I've been looking at search results (Yahoo/Overture), that is currently installed on Rupert's myspace.com and cannot see how any such results can be more 'value' to NWS, than the principles of 'sharing' both content & users with fellow publishers/media Co's & their sites.

And I liked this posters thoughts here, apart from his referance to a "brand" .....
"... Social Networking companies won’t have an initial search brand, but they will be able to monetize it just by being the default. Has anyone noticed the top of the page at MySpace? The search button is larger than the MySpace.com text and by default it searches the web first"! ....He/she says ....

I haven't (as yet) got to read his thoughts in:
'The Perceptions and Reverie of a Young Investor and Entrepreneur"
Mike, a "controlling stake" interest in Looksmart from Rupert will see exactly the same (Furl & search) arrangements on all partner sites, as is currently installed on the Viacom, CBS Local sites, I feel.
http://cbs4boston.com/
And I can see plenty of area there (on the top RHS) to enlarge the search "options", that will probably be 'uniform', on all network partner sites. (should be?). Now, back to myspace.com and it's current search facility, with Yahoo. Check these two results & make up your mind as to which will prove more financially beneficial to NewsCorp (FIM), when you then take into mind the number of additional 'users' that can be introduced to each partners site, under a content consortium network, eventuality.
http://searchresults.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=advancedFind.results&websearch=1&spotId=2
or,
http://search.cbs4boston.com/?__LOGIC=1611§ion=The+Web&SearchString=FindArticles+on+Tomato
So, Rupert now has a 60% interest in those (above) CBS4 'results' that (and assuming these same results, have also become 'universal' to all stakeholders) then take a 'user' from any partner site, back to a Rupert (owned) Vertical (that has, in time, 'localised' contextuals on that Vertical results page, with revenues for Rupert & Looksmart) and then the "user" may make two or, more (visit) 'explores', (from this juncture), onto any of the/ those "other" partner (content supplier) sites. The number of partner sites 'visited' is only dependent on the number of articles of interest or, the popularity of those articles that the Looksmart Vertical results page displays, that are then subsequently 'clicked' on. Furl will help index, acoordingly.
Now check out the "unique" visitor numbers here, or, those "potential' partners, a content consortium could bring to a Looksmart involvement, as described.

But back to the "sheep" on Ozestocks, Yahoo, HC or, any other stockboard, who really haven't got time to understand. Why? Because they don't read a post in it's true context! They don't 'check links' or, even try to reason out & understand the 'logic' of a post. They don't check as to, whether it is sound, or, otherwise. They are the 80% in Pareto's Principle!!

Cheers Mike !!

ps; Mike, I will post this on Oze & HC, purely for recording purposes, only. Just an historical record of fact in time, hopefully!! LOL !!
