Back around 18 odd years ago, my broker (yes, we has real live ones back then) rang me after market offering up to $2m worth of Computershare at a 10% (odd) discount to the closing price, as a top 10 was looking to divest.

I asked him what should i do, as i had never come across that sort of offer. He said to "go all in" as it was an off market arrangement (no T+3) and that profit was (tacitly) guaranteed.

Gave him $50k and he sold it all on open for $55.

Naivity stopped me from taking that $2m punt (and the 200k overnight potential that was worth more than an average house back then).
