what it is all about
It is all rather simple, really. The earth and the Universe came into existence. The best explanation for that event is that God made it so. But God is a loving God and he made humans in his own image - they had free will. So, oops-sa-daisy, we sinned. He still loved us though and kept talking to us through a people, the Jews. He had to speak to "a people" to get his message across. He said to them that he would send a Messiah, a leader and all would be well. Over the centuries he kept telling them this but they kept ignoring him, on and off. Anyway, along came Jesus who stirred them up by saying things and upsetting the powers-that-be at the time. His basic message was love thy neighbour as you would want to be loved, amongst other things. As foretold in the Old Testament, he was crucified, died and was buried, but then he rose from the dead. He then sent out his Apostles and Disciples to spread his message and to do what he taught them to do. The message? God loves us and wants us to love him, and resurrection awaits us all because he rose from the dead. Unfortunately Jesus has desperate enemies who will do anything to undo his work, and his followers are human and make mistakes.
