Intellectual Property Manager

International Medical Device Company.
Australian publicly listed company.
Chatswood location.

Ventracor is an international medical device company, headquartered in Sydney, that manufactures the VentrAssistâ„¢ Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), an implantable blood pump designed as long term therapy for people in end stage heart failure.

We are looking for an experienced Intellectual Property Manager to manage and coordinate the Intellectual Property (IP) and related functions in Ventracor, an Australian publicly listed company (ASX:VCR).

Full-time or part-time position negotiable.

Key Challenges:


Manage and protect the Company’s global IP portfolio, including patents, trade marks, copyright and registered designs;
Liaise with external counsel in the maintenance and prosecution of IP applications;
Liaise with internal legal counsel and other executives regarding IP management, strategy and policy;
Research and identify intellectual property of competitors;
Advise on licences and other agreements involving IP;
Manage performance of IP licenses.


Qualifications/Experience:


Degree or equivalent;
IP management experience essential;
IP qualifications preferred;
Science, Engineering and/or Legal qualifications/experience an advantage.


Skills required:


Strong understanding of international IP protection;
Strong oral and written communication skills;
Substantial experience in handling/managing IP;
Understanding of the medical devices industry;
Proven ability to meet deadlines;
Strong attention to detail.
