    Mankind? The whole of it? Some of it?
    In all of these thousands of years you're talking about there always have been those people who did not believe in the after life.
    Whether Jesus was "resurected" is a matter of profound and unquestioned belief. We have no tangible, palpable evidence that this is the case.
    Also, even if we were to take it as given that every human being in all those thousands of years actually believed in the afterlife, this does not mean that they were correct.
    For a good 1600 years the Catholics believed that the universe spun around the earth (Aristotle's booboo) Then Galileo came around with his little telescope and proved otherwise. Poor bugger was nearly tarred, feathered and charcoaled for going against the "Holy Spirit" which was also unquestionable.
