What's brave about it? The most intelligent dolphin cannot build a space ship. The most intelligent octopus or raven cannot build a mobile phone or large hadron collider. Humanity is millions of years ahead of the animal kingdom in terms of intelligence.

Unlike animal kingdom, humanity has been infected by a mind virus, which means we don't understand who we are (in the Bible, this is referred to as "The Fall". I'm not a huge fan of the bible, but the metaphor is accurate). We think we are our bodies. This is not true for animals aside from the most advanced species, who seem to have a rudimentary sense of self. The more intelligent the animal, the more likely they are to kill, harrass or bully other animals. Most of the mid- to lower-tier animal kingdom is completely in tune with Life, whereas humans are not. Animals are natural, whereas humans have become unnatural, even to the point of killing each other to defend a religion.

So, as always, it comes back to definitions. How does one define intelligence? If waging war helps promote survival of your clan, and Evolution is a game of survival of the fittest, then it's quite "intelligent". Intelligent and completely unnatural. Intelligent and completely out of sych with Life.
