True they are not available to average joe and that is what is wrong, there they are empty, so lets bring these property prices down via a vacancy tax and rate increases and of course get rid of negative gearing, tax them enough and those prices will come down, whos idea was it to make housing an investment.
Here in Victoria the state government is going to build a whole heap of units around business hubs and railway lines so as to make available cheap housing which will result in much needed stamp duties, but when people wake up to fact that all you are entilted is to occupie the air space inside the unit I feel it will be a lot harder sell, even now real estate agents are advetising units as homes and that is another thing that should changed.
