As has been commented before, it is extremely odd that we don't have a new man at the top. I just wonder whether there has never been any intention to appoint someone as EXT knew that no one was going to be needed, ie there is a very suitable offer on the table and the March deadline is just to make sure there isn't a better one lurking out there.
